今回はbinomial expressionに関する内容です。
Binomial Expressions
２つの単語が接続詞でつながっている熟語をBinomial Expressionと言います。
単にBinomialと呼ばれたり、Binomial PairやFixed Binomialと呼ばれることもあります。
- more or less（多かれ少なかれ）
- step by step（少しずつ）
- hard and fast（絶対動かせない、厳しい）
スラングと同じくBinomial Expressionを正しく使う事でネイティブのような表現ができます。いつもの英語にこれらを入れることで相手に「この人の英語が大丈夫そう」と思わせて自然な会話ができるようになります。相手に違和感を覚えさせずに英語を話せるようになることは自分の自信にもなります。
英語には多くのBinomial Expressionがあります。自分の気に入っている表現からどんどん使いましょう。ただ注意して頂きたいのが、これらの順番は決まっていることです。例えばfast and hardと言えないように、順番を変えることはできません。
ここでよく使うBinomial Expressionを10個あげて例題を書きます。あえて例題の和訳を書きません、是非、辞書をひきながら考えてみましょう。
